Form of workThe Purchasing Specialist increases Company profitability and customer satisfaction by purchasing the ideal
mix of materials, at the lowest cost and highest quality, in a timely manner. Working closely with Inventory Control,
the Purchasing Specialist/Buyer also keeps abreast of changes affecting both the supply and demand of products,
has strong knowledge of Warehouse and Inventory Control procedures and reviews requisitions and projections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiate with suppliers for the lowest possible prices on products.
- Collaborate with Inventory Control to adequately stock warehouses.
- Maintain strong plumbing and/or heating product knowledge.
- Manages the purchase order and replenishment processes.
Minimum Requirements
- Proficient math skills to facilitate accurate and quick assessment of data
- Plumbing and/or heating knowledge
- Possess strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft products
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position
Physical Demands
- May occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Regular use of arms, hands and fingers to feel, grasp, type and reach.
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period time.
- Close vision requirements due to computer work.
Work Environment
Office atmosphere. Light to moderate noise (white noise, phones, printers, etc.)
