General Description
The TexasBarBooks department publishes law books in print, digital, and online formats. A Publications Attorney analyzes and edits legal manuscripts for substantive accuracy and clarity. Involves contact with the volunteer lawyers, judges, and professors who write legal materials for publication as well as frequent contact with State Bar departments, committees, and the public. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of remote work and in office at the discretion of the employer.

Position Requirements
J.D. or L.L.B. and license to practice law, preferably in Texas, required or able to waive into the Texas Bar, or willing to take the next available bar exam. Related work experience helpful. Must be able to write clearly and perform legal research effectively. Requires excellent communication skills, diplomacy, and discretion. Must be able to work under deadline pressure and prioritize multiple work assignments and long-term projects. Must be able to use basic word processing software. Occasional travel required. Writing sample required with application: 500-1000 words in plain language.

- Analyzes and researches legal issues in manuscripts to ensure accuracy.
- Independently writes comprehensive supplementation to update existing publications.
- Works with volunteer authors to develop books, practice manuals, and forms in various legal subject areas.
- Responds by telephone and e-mail to requests for information about content and use of publications.
- Performs other responsibilities as required.
