Job Title: Publication Quality Control Specialist

We are seeking four highly experienced and knowledgeable Publication Quality Control Specialist to join our team and support our government contracting operations.
Job Summary: As a Publication Quality Control Specialist, you will play a crucial role in independently providing support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
Responsibilities:
- Complete Production Checks by assessing the production quality of incoming manuscripts; ensure that all relevant files are received and that they follow established guidelines.
- Input manuscript metadata into Environmental Health Perspectives Publishing's production tracking system.
- Review copyedited materials to ensure that they follow Environmental Health Perspectives style guidelines, and that the authors corrections have been properly implemented.
- Work with the Production team on all aspects of scientific publishing to successfully publish and release new articles to the scientific community.
- Analyze the cause of copyediting errors, report findings to the appropriate staff.
- Review published materials on Environmental Health Perspectives Publishing's online publishing platform for 508-WCAG compliance, as well as adherence to the style guide.
- Contribute to updates of the Environmental Health Perspectives Publishing style guide.
- Interface with external contractors to monitor timeliness and quality of publication.
- Periodically review standing content (such as instructions, guidelines, and About info) on the Environmental Health Perspectives Publishing website and update pages as directed.
- Bachelor's degree in Communication, English, or Journalism.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Prior scientific/scholarly production publishing experience, preferably with scientific journals.
- Proficiency in proofreading and editing business, technical or scientific documentation.
- Experience in organizing information and gathering information related to the development of reports, briefings, and media outreach.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and deductive reasoning.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledge of computer technology such as desktop publishing systems, graphics, software, and basic HMLT coding to create, edit, and prepare materials for publication.
