ESG Operations is hiring a Public Works Technician to join our Quitman, GA team. Our Public Works crew is responsible for projects involving landscaping and maintenance of public property. You would be responsible for operating related equipment to ensure work orders are completed correctly and on time. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous benefits package with health, dental and life insurance, 401(k) plan, paid time off, sick leave, holidays, and wellness plan.

Qualifications
Prefer six months of related experience, high school diploma or GED, or specialized vocational training. Must have a valid state driver's license and meet minimum driving standards, CDL is helpful.
Knowledge of: Basic math to include addition and subtraction.
Skill in: Handling or using machines, tools, equipment or relevant work aids. Job involves some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate equipment.
Ability to: Read simple sentences or instructions; write simple sentences; speak simple sentences using basic grammar. Perform semi-routine work following procedures with occasional problem-solving required; requires normal attention for accurate results.
Physical requirements This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis. The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.

Responsibilities include:
- Operate equipment such as backhoes, jackhammers, chain saws, lawnmowers, chippers, leaf machines, concrete saws, paint strippers, or tractors with bush hogs
- Mow and trim assigned property; remove brush, tree limbs, and leaves with chipper and leaf machines; clean alleys and right-of-ways; trim hedges and sidewalks.
- Plant and fertilize trees, shrubs and flowers; spray for weeds. Perform cleaning tasks.
- Repair sidewalks and other concrete areas; resurfaces and repairs roadways; maintain roadway curbs, crosswalks, and stop bars; finish concrete; clear roadways of debris.
- Perform minor building repairs.
- Install and replace signage to include street signs and traffic signs.
- Clean and repair drainage structures; lay pipelines; expose existing utility lines to aid heavy equipment operator and keep the operator away from objects such as grade stakes.
- Direct and control traffic at work sites.
