**Must be able to participate in a standby rotation schedule outside of normal shift hours along with night, weekends, and holidays, with the ability to respond to emergencies within a reasonable time frame.
Manatee County Public Works Departmentprovides many of the basic services that affect the daily lives of everyone who lives, works, and plays in unincorporated Manatee County. Primarily, the department is responsible for the administration, planning, engineering, maintenance, and construction management of the County's infrastructure. We exist to support the needs of the community. This includes the safety of roadways, traffic signals, pavement markings, streetlights, vehicle maintenance, proper engineering design, and efficient maintenance of all the stormwater system owned and maintained by the County.

As a Public Works Maintenance Technician, I - Senior (DOQ) - you will perform various maintenance activities on a crew including infrastructure construction projects, such as roads, storm drains, bridges, marine construction, water distribution, back flow prevention, and sewer transmission.
NOTE: POSITION LEVEL AND SALARY WILL BE DEPENDENT ON QUALIFICATIONS (DOQ.)
Career Progression: Employees in this broadband classification that acquire the competencies and minimum qualifications for the next tier will automatically advance to the new tier upon submission of appropriate documentation of qualifications.

EDUCATION:
TECH I - Senior:High school graduate/equivalent.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
TECH I: Prior experience in highway or drainage maintenance and construction desired. Meets Skill Set Level I (or equivalent) career ladder requirements as specified on current Public Works Maintenance Technician Career Ladder Matrix.
TECH II: Two (2) or more years of Public Works construction and maintenance work experience. Meets Skill Set Level I and Level II (or equivalent) career ladder requirements as specified on current Public Works Maintenance Technician Career Ladder Matrix.
TECH III: Three (3) or more years of Public Works construction and maintenance work experience. Meets Skill Set Level I, Level II, and Level III (or equivalent) career ladder requirements as specified on current Public Works Maintenance Technician Career Ladder Matrix.
SR TECH: Four (4) or more years of Public Works construction and maintenance work experience. Meets Skill Set Level I, Level II, Level III, and Senior Level (or equivalent) career ladder requirements as specified on current Public Works Maintenance Technician Career Ladder Matrix.
DRIVER'S LICENSE:
TECH I: Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B required within 120 days of start date.
TECH II - III: Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B and Tanker Endorsement.
SR TECH: Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B, with Hazardous Waste CDL Endorsement or Advanced Maintenance of Traffic Certification.
