Depending upon qualifications at the time of hire will determine range and rate of pay. Below are the distinguishing characteristics and qualifications for each position:
Distinguishing Characteristics - CSSII
This is the second level of a four-level Customer Service classification. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position. Individuals assigned to this classification aid all divisions in the department in the performance of tasks related to the issuance of permits and basic administrative support. Assignments are made in general and specific terms and the employee is expected to exercise initiative and judgment in carrying out assignments according to established standards, policies, and procedures. Incumbents must often select the most effective methods, procedures, and courses of action from several possible alternatives and how service can best be rendered using tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Supervision and periodic reviews of work accomplished may be performed by the Administrative Operations Manager.
Qualifications - CSSII
Education/Training/Experience
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year general record-keeping experience, required;
- Minimum of three years of secretarial or advanced clerical work experience preferred;
- Extensive computer knowledge and ability required;
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
This is the third level of a four-level Customer Service classification series. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position. The Customer Service Specialist III differs from other classifications in this series in that the incumbent is responsible for providing Customer Service and information, which requires a broad understanding, interpretation and application of established guidelines, policies, programs, and procedures with little need for further referral to other staff. Incumbents must often select the most effective methods, procedures, and courses of action from several possible alternatives to accomplish the assigned task most effectively and determine how service can best be rendered and/or the complaint resolved. Duties often involve difficult interpersonal relationships, requiring tact, discretion, and diplomacy. This classification is distinguished from other series in that the primary focus is around direct Customer Service. Supervision and periodic reviews of work accomplished may be performed by the Administrative Operations Manager.
