The Opportunity
The B2B Public Relations Associate plays a key role in shaping and executing Public Relations strategies to promote InCharge Energy as the leading fleet infrastructure solution provider. This role involves creating compelling narratives and managing targeted media outreach to maximize publicity, developing and guiding thought leadership content creation and publication, managing corporate award submissions, and driving communications strategy to promote growth within key audience verticals. The successful candidate will bring relevant experience and already-established media relationships and will focus on further developing key press relationships, including pitching, coordinating, and overseeing interviews, and success tracking.
The successful candidate will be able to readily translate complex technical solutions into accessible, compelling content that clearly conveys InCharge Energy's unique value propositions and competitive product differentiators to position us for continued market growth.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute comprehensive Public Relations strategies supporting InCharge's industry leadership position.
  • Build and extend relationships with key journalists and media outlets.
  • Create and distribute impactful press releases, media kits, and other innovative and attention-grabbing communication materials to secure positive media coverage.
  • Create and oversee the development of compelling and informative content such as articles, blog posts, messaging guides, whitepapers, and case studies, to highlight InCharge Energy USPs for fleet electrification, new or existing partnerships, innovative infrastructure solutions, and more.
  • Extend InCharge's media reach by pitching stories and interviews to journalists and media outlets, securing relevant awards to highlight the company's achievements, applying for speaking or panel opportunities for executives, and otherwise securing coverage across relevant platforms and events, including those owned by InCharge partners or customers.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing colleagues to maximize reach of media coverage and to appropriately brand messaging for InCharge or for InCharge together with majority stakeholder ABB.
  • Provide internal training to ensure executive or SME communications are focused, impactful and on-brand.
  • Support coordination of events, trade shows, and conferences with marketing; manage communication opportunities during events.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry, competitor, and customer trends, reporting monthly to internal colleagues; leverage these together with InCharge or customer updates to adjust communications quickly for maximum impact and to provide guidance internally on strategic approach.
  • Track success metrics, including media impressions, engagement, sentiment analysis and other relevant data points; use data-driven learnings to evaluate and improve upon existing strategies.
  • Support marketing team with periodic content creation training and feedback.
  • Serve as internal champion for ongoing content and customer testimonial acquisition.
  • Develop deep knowledge of our strategies, products, and solutions, able to effectively absorb and transform technical information to accessible media- and customer-facing content.
  • Create and maintain a forward-looking communications calendar as part of overarching marketing strategy. Always be looking for opportunities to improve.
  • Optimize communication campaigns to "work hard" with little or no versioning for use across products, across channels, and to be evergreen, where feasible.
  • Provide and present reports internally and to partners/ leadership.
  • Manage one or more junior team members or contractors as and when needed, formally or informally; provide insights, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities. Schedule and assign employees and follow up on work results.
  • Manage and maintain marketing staff job results by providing helpful feedback and by planning and monitoring workload and appraising job results. Support employee recruitment, training and firing as needed

Your Experience and Capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, communications, marketing, business, or a related field
  • Proven B2B Public Relations experience, preferably in the EV/EVSE or clean energy space, or in a tech or software-based organization (2-6+ years)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with all aspects of corporate Public Relations; crisis communication experience a plus
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with the EV or EVSE industry
  • Familiarity with industry-specific target publications, influencers, and journalists/ media outlets
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Passionate about staying up to date on communication trends, constantly innovating new tactics and approaches to maximize impact
  • A collaborator who enjoys working in a fast paced, dynamic, cross-functional team environment
  • Contribute to creation of budget and forecast
  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%)

US Salary Range
$80,000 - $90,000 USD
