Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Analyst within our Corporate Affairs Department based in Houston, TX.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
As a member of the Corporate Affairs Department, the Analyst has Public Relations experience and is a strong writer, who will support worldwide media Relations and public affairs activities.
Support the department's implementation of media strategy at the corporate-level and for the company's global business units
Assist with media relations, public affairs initiatives, issues and crisis management, and other relevant image-building strategies to support Occidental's business objectives
Monitor news media sources for relevant business or industry news and coordinate distribution
Draft media statements, news releases, background documents, Q&A documents and other materials necessary for external use
Assist with distribution of new releases
Contribute content and ideas for Occidental's website, intranet, social media, fact sheets, brochures, annual reports and other collateral
Coordinate with vendors
Collaborate on external communications projects
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate communications department or PR agency
Bachelor's Degree in a communications field or related discipline
Client-centered and able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage priorities and meet tight deadlines
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy and stylistic consistency
Excellent project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and internal clients
Ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
Must be organized, detail-oriented and a resourceful problem solver with the ability to formulate and execute plans efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision
Maturity, confidence, poise and presence necessary to interface effectively with senior-level executives as well as external constituents such as business partners and media
Familiarity with online and other research sources and methods
