Under the administrative direction of the CEA A - Chief of Legislation & Public Affairs, Medical Board of California (MBC), the incumbent has full delegated responsibility for the Medical Board of California's Public Affairs program. The incumbent is the primary contact person and source of information for the media, the physician community, and other agencies and organizations regarding the programs, policies, and activities of the Board.
The incumbent consults with and advises the MBC Executive staff, top management, and Board members on strategies for addressing sensitive and controversial issues that have been, or may become, the subject of media attention and publicity and works with them on proactively informing the public and the medical profession of the work of the Board.
The incumbent designs and executes communication programs to educate the public, applicants, and licensees regarding MBC programs, laws, and priorities.
The incumbent supervises and provides direction to the professional staff in the Public Information Unit.

Department InformationThis position is with the Medical Board of California (MBC) and in the Executive Office. MBC licenses and regulates medical doctors in this state.
The Medical Board has FREE PARKING and is located next to the Royal Oaks Light Rail station.

Special RequirementsTitle 11, section 703(d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). In accordance with DCA's CORI procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the incumbent routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program matters at all times.
