Brief Description
ABOUT THE JOB
In this position you will work with various teams supporting community health. You will oversee professional nursing staff, as well as the clinical service delivery provided by program coordinators in areas such as immunization, reproductive health, home visiting programs, WIC, communicable disease, etc. As a member of the Public Health Leadership Team, you will assist with the administration of Public Health services provided by the County, including reviewing, developing and implementing department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE OF: clinical nursing, Public Health, and nursing skills and practices; Public Health laws and regulations; Public Health programs; communicable disease; vaccines and immunization; epidemiology; emergency preparedness; correctional health; Public Health budgeting; child abuse dynamics; infant and child development; parent-child interaction; counseling; family systems; prevention strategies; resources available in Polk County; co-dependency issues; alcohol and drug abuse issues.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Bachelor's degree in nursing and three years experience in a Public Health or clinical setting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon at the time of appointment. Must possess and maintain a valid Oregon driver's license and automobile insurance, and have access to and use of a personal automobile as a condition of employment.

Our Community:
Polk County is located in the Willamette Valley just an hour from the Pacific Coast to the west and an hour from Portland to the north. The population is approximately 87,000 and the county spans about 744 square miles, with two thirds of the western part of the county being forest. National protected areas include the Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge and Siuslaw National Forest.

Benefits Overview:

Health Insurance (medical, dental, Rx and vision): We offer Kaiser Permanente and PacificSource. Coverage varies according to bargaining unit. Employee share of the premium will vary according to bargaining unit and full-time or part-time status.
Paid Leave:
  • Vacation: New full-time employees generally earn 12 vacation days per year; this increases with years of service. Part-time employees earn a pro-rated amount.
  • Holidays: A generous number of paid holidays annually. This will vary according to bargaining unit.
  • Personal Leave Days: These are floating holidays. The number of Personal Leave Days varies according to bargaining unit.
  • Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (pro-rated for part time) with no maximum accrual.
  • Other Leaves: Jury duty, bereavement, military.
