Washington County's Administrative Office (CAO) is now seeking a Bilingual Spanish/EnglishPublic Affairs and Communications Coordinator. An important goal for this position is to enable and address language and cultural barriers affecting meaningful access to county services through thoughtful and planned communications. The ideal candidate will provide direct public information, particularly to the Spanish-speaking community, by acting as a general information resource disseminating accurate and culturally appropriate content and referring inquiries to departments and elected officials as appropriate.
In this position, the person will become part of the overall communications function of the CAO and will work closely with the CAO's Office of Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement to help advance the organization's workplan for equity, diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will create and translate public information into Spanish for dissemination to internal and external organizations as well as social media. The successful candidate will also serve as a liaison with the Spanish and English-language media on current Washington County activities, especially those associated with post-pandemic community resiliency.

Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Political Science, Communications, Journalism or related degree; AND
- Two (2) years experience related to public or governmental affairs.
- Graduate level training in a related field.
- Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and translate Spanish into English and English into Spanish.
Designated bilingual positions require that the incumbent have knowledge of the Spanish language, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Skill in writing Spanish accurately; ability to speak Spanish fluently; and ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing are required. If you possess these skills, you are encouraged to apply. An additional $75/per pay period for bilingual skills will be paid to qualified employees. Pay periods are every two weeks. Selection Process
