College Post Office Specialist May 22nd 2024ROLE TITLE: College Post Office SpecialistREPORTS TO: Director of Retail Operations

Summary of Position

This position is part of the cross-functional Retail Operations team which includes printing services, Merriman Campus Store, and campus postal operations. It will be necessary to work in all areas of the team at times, therefore cross training will be provided. This position oversees the day to day operation of the College Post Office where all incoming mail/packages are received and all outgoing mail/packages are processed. This is fast paced work environment interfacing with a diverse customer base of students, faculty, employees and community members. This position will require keeping current with all USPS regulations.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provide an efficient, prompt, service-oriented mail service for the college campus and community by operating within budget while providing a quality mail service to the college. Provide timely and accurate receiving and distribution, to include large package delivery of packages weighing 25 to 50 pounds, of incoming United States Postal Service (USPS) and campus mail, weighing and sending packages and all classes of mail, and collecting outgoing mail for pick-up by postal service according to Federal Postal Regulation and local policies and procedures. Promote professional, service-oriented mail service operations by answering inquiries concerning campus and USPS mail services and regulations, explaining rates, special types, classes of mail, and packaging requirements, and advising mail service patrons on the most appropriate category and class of mail to meet their needs.
  • Complete retail transactions and perform customer service duties. Operates the postal point of sale systems including the integrated electronic scale, postage printer, label printer, and label writer; perform transactions, make corrections, edit pricing, add users, add products, run reports, and perform daily cash reconciliations.
  • Prevent institutional liability and the potential loss of its authority to operate an independent United States Postal Service (USPS) satellite by ensuring the college’s mail services complies with federal postal rules and regulations in the receipt, handing, and distribution on all classes of mail. Maintain required records and files and complete monthly department chargebacks for postage. This includes monitoring the USPS permits and funds for the USPS postage equipment. Make efforts to locate lost items and facilitate and related claims as applicable. Formulate, recommend and implement departmental and USPS policies and procedures. Inform the Director of new postal related issues such as mail processes, regulations, addressing and billing. Recognize issues and solve

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Entry level position, but would desire candidates with a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • High school graduate or GED is required
  • Track record of achieving exceptional results
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Must have exceptional communication and relationship building abilities
  • Required knowledge: Google Suite, MS Office Suite, equipment
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions and learn and master new technology
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all time

YOUR COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience. This is a non-exempt position. The expected hourly range starting point for this position is $17.00.
