Our Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a bilingual (Spanish) registration Front Desk Clerk to oversee customer service and registration duties at our registration desk at the Centre of Elgin. The Front Desk Clerk oversees customer service and registration duties at our registration desk at the Centre of Elgin. The Front Desk Clerk is the 'face' of our department, the successful candidate will be presentable and friendly, with outstanding people's skills.
- Greet, and communicate with and welcome customers.
- Provide in-person registration and phone registration for classes, drop-in, POS, rentals, and cancellations.
- Provide general information on department recreation activities and facilities.
- Answer phone line and redirect when needed.
- Responsive to customers' questions and address their complaints.
7. Works cooperatively with program supervisors and building supervisors.
8. Performs related tasks as required.
9. Wear appropriate staff uniform.
10. Abide by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Manual.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel and Word).
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
- Team player.
- Customer-oriented mindset. Great interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to enforce all rules and policies of the City at the facility in a diplomatic manner.
- Computer skills, previous recreation software experience preferred. Ability to operate general office machines: photocopier, fax machine, typewriter, printer and binder.
- CPR/AED certified within 3 months of employment.
- High School diploma; any additional diploma will be considered as advantage
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- 2 years min. of experience as front line customer service or similar role.
- Must pass background check and drug test
- Bilingual Spanish Preferred
