Position Summary
Position Summary: Associate Faculty Art provide an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing experience of their profession in our classrooms, laboratories, and studios. Instruction is provided via a variety of media, including face-to-face courses, and blended learning throughout Cochise County and our entire service area.

Compensation: $834 per equated credit unit
Marketing Statement:
Cochise College serves the residents of Cochise County from two campuses and four centers throughout Southern Arizona with panoramic views of five different mountain ranges. The college has been recognized nationally for its cost, return on investment, and high success rate; providing over 90 general and technical education programs leading to a variety of workforce certificates and associate degrees. Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:
Teaches assigned courses to enrolled students and manages a diverse population of students in a classroom, laboratory, or in an online environment
Develops, prepares, and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses, and plans for students' educational and social needs
Collaborates with other faculty and staff in assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvement
Maintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and the department
Resolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the appropriate Department Chair, Dean, or other College official
Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
Master's degree and 18 graduate credits in 2 Dimensional and/or 3 Dimensional Art from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education
Preferred Qualification: Master's of Fine Arts in Studio Art or Art and 18 graduate credits 2 Dimensional AND 18 graduate credits in 3 Dimensional Art from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of research-based adult learning principles
Knowledge of trends, developments, and new technologies affecting education and the arts
Knowledge of developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional approaches
Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students' needs and progress
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
Ability to effectively identify and analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve using independent judgment and decision-making processes while maintaining strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students, and the public
Ability to manage studio equipment and supplies in a responsible fashion while ensuring the workspace is left clean and well-organized for other users
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Environment:Work is performed in a classroom or studio setting with appropriate climate controls under limited supervision and includes possible exposure to mechanical and chemical hazards.
Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, fine and large motor skills, and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. May require travel, working evenings and weekends.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills
