Third Way Center is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse to work with a multidisciplinary treatment team with high risk male and female youth ages 13-20 with complex mental health needs in a residential setting. We are looking for a creative and dynamic person who likes to be challenged and seeks to learn and better themselves professionally and personally. Our mission is to provide a continuum of services in a home-like environment where at-risk youth can work through their traumas, learn to take responsibility for their actions and lives to become productive members of society. The position will help to enhance the existing treatment process and address the ongoing increased need for psychiatric services present in the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF).
As the Nurse you will provide direct care in a residential 24/7 Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) setting in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to create a proficient level of care and maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. The Psychiatric Nurse will be an important member of the PRTF treatment team and report directly to the Lowry treatment leaders, senior clinical staff and is a liaison to the medical team.
Responsibilities:
Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of care. Conduct health screens on incoming residents.
Have a working knowledge of PRTF requirements and policies.
Assist with reauthorizations for treatment when appropriate.
Providing therapeutic interventions and psychoeducation to residents and their families. This may include attending staffings with staff when appropriate, or contacting parents or professionals when needed.
Responds to patient care situations utilizing nursing standards and protocols for treatment.
Works closely with the treatment team in regards to medication management, side effects and any adverse symptomatology. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications prescribed to current residents.
Assists in the oversight of medication documentation. Taking time to ensure documentation is concise, accurate and complete, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
As a member of the PRTF team, is able to participate in the ‘certificate of needs’ process for all residents at PRTF level of care.
Provides psychiatric nursing to a complex behavioral health patient population in a complex environment in conjunction with the medical and clinical team(s) on Lowry campus.
Handles critical and highly stressful situations, reacting decisively with efficiency and composure. Within the scope of the job, requiring critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Participating in ongoing education and training to stay current with the latest trends and advancements in the field of mental health nursing
On-call responsibilities every 4 weeks\

QualificationsQualifications:
Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with active RN license in the state of Colorado.
Experience in a Psychiatric or Residential treatment setting preferred.
TCI Certified Trainer-Initial training and on-going for Lowry staff in conjunction with TCI team
Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
Bilingual preferred but not required
The candidate must also possess a current valid Colorado driver's license, have a clean driving (no DUI/DWAI in the last five years) and criminal record. Additionally, the candidate must pass an extensive background and DMV check as well. We follow Federal Drug Screening laws.
