Pysch Tech: This position is responsible for carrying out the activities of daily living services to residents in accordance with their service plan in a given community. These duties include providing medication management services, personal care for all residents, communicating with medical professionals and families about the needs of residents.
Essential Functions of the Job:
1. Administer treatments in accordance with physician instructions. Identify any side effects or problems, and report refusals to the physician.
2. Prepare and pass medication for residents as ordered by a physician, reporting any medication errors, side effects, or problems to supervisor or physician. Document administration or refusal of medication.
3. Responsible for accurately completing all forms and communication notes related to and required by company policy and State regulations regarding medication administration and/or supervision.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of safety procedures and precautions regarding the resident. Reports all incidents, accidents, unsafe or hazardous conditions to appropriate personnel. Responds to emergency situations, following proper emergency protocol. Takes vital signs and administers first aid in the event of illness.
5. Assure availability of all medications prescribed for a resident and that medication on hand is that which is prescribed, is not expired, and is properly labeled in compliance with company policy and State regulations.
6. Perform checks of vital signs and weight as assigned and maintains records of monthly vital signs and weight for each resident in compliance with company policy and State requirements.
7. Good attendance.
8. Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must have at least one year of experience in a caregiving role or similar function.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements:
Certifications as required by the state. Must have a current Tuberculosis skin test or chest x-ray.
Must have current CPR and First Aid certification. Must pass a criminal background check. Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
Essential Skills:
Verbally able to articulate in person and over the phone. Able to communicate in written form and complete documentation as required by state and company policies. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Able to work well under pressure, resolve conflicts, prioritize tasks, and follow through with ideas. Follows company regulations.
Must be able to read physician orders and match to Medication Administration Records for residents. Must possess an understanding of medical terminology adequate to pass medications and communicate with medical professionals.
