Summary:
The nurse works in collaboration with the medical director and program coordinator. Reports to the medical director and residential services coordinator.
Qualifications:
Current LVN, Healthcare Provider or Psychiatric Technician License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing. Knowledge of medical aspects of addiction and co-occurring disorders. Proficient charting; valid California Driver’s License and evidence of automobile insurance coverage. Professional appearance and pleasant mannerism.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Medical oversight of withdrawal management and residential program in collaboration with the medical director and program coordinator.
- Complete in-depth nursing assessment within 12 hours of client’s arrival to treatment.
- Communicate any significant findings with medical director/program coordinator.
- Inform clients of anticipated symptoms of withdrawal, when applicable.
- Check vital signs of detoxification clients regularly.
- Coordinate transition of clients requiring a higher level of care.
- Provide staff consultation and training regarding medical, medications and other treatment related issues as needed.
- Administer/read TB skin tests for clients.
- All other duties deemed necessary and appropriate by the residential services coordinator.
- Ensure the highest level of service is provided to the people we serve.
- Ensure client anonymity and confidentiality in compliance with federal guidelines, including HIPAA regulations.
- Adhere to staff Codes of Ethics and Conduct.
- Adhere to policies and procedures set forth for agency.
- Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards established by IVRS.
- Stay apprised of current treatment trends and updated federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations and standards governing all services provided by IVRS.
Essential Job Functions:
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, calculators and fax machines.
- Must be able to prepare correspondence.
- Must be able to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
- Must be able to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
