Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a PRP - Therapeutic Support Specialist works to implement the rehabilitation activities outlined in the individual's IRP to address skill building and enhancing peer and family relationships , emotional management, social, self-care, independent living skills, and activities that support the individual's or youth's cultural interests. These include but are not limited to; enhance community functioning in identified clients (adults, youth) by focusing on activities of independent living related to resilience, recovery and rehabilitation. Efforts and interventions are integrated with those of the primary therapist and other relevant health care providers. The work schedule is: Mon-Fri 11:00am-7:00pm
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respect individuals rights by recognizing the dignity of each individual, encouraging their participation in problem solving and decision making and maintaining the confidentiality of all client information.
- Maintains the environment of care by complying with therapeutic standards, risk management policy, and procedures for maintaining client safety.
- Contributes to Performance Improvement at the individual, department and agency levels:
- When working with youth, develops and implements skill-development strategies and interventions with clients to address behavioral/social/ and educational needs such as remedial educational instruction, tutoring, homework assistance, social interpersonal skills development, problem solving skills, parenting skills, self-care/life skills, therapeutic recreation, behavior management, anger management, etc., These may be accomplished through individual, or group contacts
- When working with adults, develops and implements skill-development strategies and interventions with clients to address Independent living, Housing, Employment, Self-administration and management of medications, Mobility and transportation, Social relationships and leisure activities, Education and vocational training, Adaptive equipment or resources, and other factors that may pose a challenge to the individual's successful recovery and rehabilitation. These may be accomplished through individual, or group contacts
- Accurately applies knowledge of treatment approaches appropriate to the physical and developmental age of clients served.
- Understands and applies policies and procedures for infection control.
- Attends all required training and in-service courses as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School/GED and 5 years of work experience with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and their families or a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field and one year of work experience with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and their families.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of participants' information.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR for school aged children.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and school age childcare guidelines.
- Working knowledge of effective methods of managing, caring, and promoting positive behaviors with children.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate with Catholic Charities personnel, students, and parents while complying with the confidentiality requirements in local, state, and federal policies and statutes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
