Protection Officers are responsible for the surveillance of our premises/property and protection of our staff and visitors. This position is responsible for detecting any suspicious behavior and preventing vandalism, thefts, or other criminal behavior. A Protection Officer must be well-trained in surveillance and dealing with perpetrators. The person in this role will inspire respect and authority, as well as possess a high level of observation, discretion, and decision-making skills. This role helps ensure the company can maintain excellent working conditions, by keeping our facilities safe and problem-free.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Patrol industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
· Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
· Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
· Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
· Contact police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
· Circulate premises among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
· Answer telephone calls, take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
· Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
· Operate detection devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
· Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
· Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure
· Provide protection and assistance during product deliveries to include:
o Protection of product, money, and valuables
o Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicle in a safe manner.
o Ensure that you are familiar with all Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission rules and regulations as it relates to delivery of product to local dispensaries.
o Obtain signatures on delivery receipts and collect payments for deliveries.
o Handle invoice discrepancies and report customer issues to supervisor
o Maintain mileage logbook.
o Perform routine vehicle inspection, maintenance, and cleaning.
· Capable of driving, protecting the transport vehicle when delivering product, money, and valuables to prevent theft and ensure safe delivery.
· Take delivery instructions from supervisors
· Chart out appropriate routes for deliveries on the map or GPS
· Maintain proper knowledge of loaded items
· Drive vehicle to the point of delivery, using the most safe and efficient route possible
· Adhere to road safety rules, follow speed limits and practice safe driving habits to prevent auto vehicle accidents
· Utilize technology to plot safe driving routes, so that timely deliveries can be made.
· Ensure that delivery receipts are signed
· Properly collect payments for deliveries made
· Handle invoice discrepancies by informing superiors of problems and complaints
· Ensure that the Curio Wellness customer service expectations are always followed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility for others.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Other Qualifications:
· Minimum 3 years of Local, State or Federal Law Enforcement experience
· Must have a valid Driver’s License with zero points or restrictions
· An official driving record no more than three-months-old must be provided during the initial interview.
· Ability to operate a conversion van/box safely and legally.
· Must have a Security agency certification, concealed carry permit or LEOSA card
· Law enforcement/security firm experience highly preferred
· Completion of a defensive driving course a plus
