Property Cost Accountant
The Property Cost Accountant is responsible for housing project budget coordination with the third-party development accountant, vouching project draw invoice packages, tracking spend down of housing grants, preparing journal entries, and maintaining balance sheet accounts. The Property Cost Accountant also assists with month-end closing, account analysis, maintains the Trullion ASC 842 Lease Accounting data base system, and supports the Accounting Manager Special Projects and Cost in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. This position also interfaces with Senior Finance Executives and works closely with Budget Analysts and Operations Managers at our various locations.

Core Responsibilities
- Reports to the Accounting Manager Special Projects
- Reconciles Construction in Progress and other balance sheet accounts
- Prepares journal entries
- Assists with month-end closing and preparation of financial statements
- Assists with preparation and coordination of the annual Financial Statements and Single Audit
- Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Requirements
- A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business with emphasis in Accounting
- Degree(s) must be from a credible college or university
- Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial data and do well in analysis
- Must be highly skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets and MIP accounting system experience is preferred
- Must be skilled in the use of MS Word and must have very good written and oral skills to handle the administrative needs of the department
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in general and property accounting is required
- Nonprofit organization experience is a plus
