Property & Casualty Claims Examiner - Remote (Florida)
Position summary: This is an experienced Claims Examiner position with over 2 years of experience in the Property & Casualty field. Works under less direct supervision with increased authority. These claims professionals will have previous experience resolving coverage questions, taking statements, establishing clear evaluation and resolution plans for claims. Clearly demonstrates the ability to handle claims in line with Claims Best Practices. Examiners at this level are expected to investigate and settle claims either in person or by phone depending on area assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Make first contacts and evaluate proper resolution process
- Meet or exceed service level objectives and expectations in a timely and courteous manner
- Communicate with customers
- Analyze information gathered during the investigation of claims
- Establish accurate reserves that will reflect most likely outcome of the claim
- Examine claims forms and other records to determine coverage
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Work schedules may be extended due to weather events impacting claim volumes

Claim Discipline Expectations
- Identify subrogation potential
- Identify fraud and refer to SIU
- Refer risk conditions to Underwriting when appropriate
- Prior experience as a Claims Examiner I or equivalent position
- Determine proper handling method
- Determine if field involvement is needed
- Handle claims with more complexity and a higher average severity
- Experience handling claims with Public Adjusters and Attorneys (pre-litigation)
- Read and understand Independent Adjuster Reports
- Investigate and determine cause of loss
- Extensive knowledge of restoration and remediation estimates to determine proper handling method

Experience, Education, and Licensure Requirement
- College degree or professional designation strongly preferred
- Professional insurance industry experience required
- Valid 6-20 Claims Adjuster License or equivalent
- Microsoft Office Suite experience required
- 2 years' experience in the Property & Casualty field
Physical Requirements (Depending on area assigned)
- Able to lift a certain amount of weight
- Climb a ladder to get on a roof
- Operate an automobile
Salary: Salary commensurate with experience
