Propane Delivery Driver/Tech

Pico Propane and Fuels is seeking a Propane Delivery Driver / Service Technician to join our team! The Propane Delivery Driver / Service Technician will play a crucial role in providing propane and refined fuel deliveries in a safe and efficient manner, with a key focus on customer satisfaction. In addition to propane and fuel delivery, this unique opportunity will also offer responsibilities with installation, repair, and maintenance of propane/fuel equipment, in a growth-oriented environment.

Ultimately, a top-class Delivery Driver / Service Technician will provide excellent customer service through efficient deliveries, expert installation services and dedicated support to all our customers.

This position will support our Pico Propane and Fuels plant in Alvin, Tx. 

• Travels to customers' homes or place of business
• Installs tanks and/or appliances
• Repairs equipment such as LP Furnaces, Water Heaters, LP appliances
• Suggests areas where equipment should be set up
• Troubleshoots problems with existing equipment
• Tests old and new installation along with testing connections
• Provides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment
• Maintains equipment and cleans up after the job is complete
• Records and maintains stock levels
• Maintains the work vehicle and general maintenance of the vehicle

• Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations
• Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane and fuel to residential/commercial locations
• Performs pre and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials
• Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulations
• Maintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety
• Ensures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor
• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Proven work experience as a Licensed Service Technician and/or Propane Delivery Driver
• Advanced knowledge of propane (LP) and refined fuel systems
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on site
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Willingness to learn, grow, and uphold a customer focused culture that continually strives to exceed expectations 

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Class A or B CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements required
• Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
• LP Delivery and LP Service and Installation certification through the TXRRC (preferred, or with the ability to obtain)
• TWIC card (preferred but not required)

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

• Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 20 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift
• Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
• Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night
• Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms 
• Must be able to speak and hear
• Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
• Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
• Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
• Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles, and gases is common
