Project Manager (Structural Engineering Experience)

Work Locations: Denver, CO or Greensboro, NC
Initially, the position requires working from a customer location for a few weeks for training. However, the position will transition to working from the customer location at least three days per week and allows teleworking from home no more than two days per week. Must have computer and Wi-Fi at home to telework. Some travel is required.
The Project Managermust have a Civil Engineering degree with Structural Engineering experience. The PM must be a trained professional who specializes in assessing the stability, strength, and overall integrity of buildings and structures. Specifically, the PM will be managing the National Parking Structure Program for the US Postal Service. This will include small design and construction projects (e.g., construction management, parking lots, parking garages, external power and lighting, external elevators, security cameras, etc.) for Facilities initiatives from inception through to delivery for the USPS Facilities organization. The PM will work with a variety of building vendors and manage a range of technical and administrative work engaged in the delivery of repair and alteration parking projects for postal facilities across the country. The PM will provide technical advice and assistance to team leaders, contractors, and subordinate staff on all repair and alteration parking structure project issues. The PM will also oversee all aspects of these action projects to include setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of various projects.
Essential Functions

• Primary responsibility is to provides project management support for a nationwide Parking Structure Program for the US Postal Service.
• Must be well organized and computer savvy. Several applications are used daily for collecting data and delivering reports.
• Includes managing the design of approximately 100 projects and 60 construction projects with a total value of under $75M.
• Must have experience in supporting elevated structures and attend meetings and provide guidance on construction and building modifications to management.
• Will review the Parking Structure Program deliverables and document them in reports as well as initiate any necessary problem calls.
• Works with construction and R&A vendors.
• Will also supports the Façade Program.
• Provides engineering consulting services, providing technical expertise in the evaluation of problems and the development of alternatives for construction projects.
• Participates in the analysis, evaluation, conduct of feasibility studies, cost estimates, and resolution of technical problems associated with the plan, design, and development of engineering systems and equipment that support construction projects.
• Prepares and develops justification for engineering proposals, including identification of alternatives for facilities, systems, and equipment for review of management.
• Evaluates technical, cost, and economic data to identify alternatives for support of mail processing.
• Participates in project management activities affiliated with the design, construction, testing, start-up, and operation of facilities, systems, and/or equipment.
• Participates in the preparation of requests for proposals, including development of drawings and specifications, and upon receipt, participates in the valuation of bids for technical accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.
• Attends preconstruction and final acceptance meetings, conducts on-site inspections during the various project phases, and reports on noncompliance with contract requirements.
• Works with architects, engineers, contractors, construction representatives, and others involved in design and construction of postal facilities.

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering preferred (Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering considered if with enough Structural Engineering experience. 
• 7 years of experience in commercial Structural Engineering preferred.

• Must be computer savvy. Most data-centric and reporting requirements are delivered via software applications.
• Proficiency using MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours when needed.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test.
• Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
