GENERAL PURPOSE

The Piping Project Manager will be responsible for managing the construction and delivery of industrial piping projects in industries such as: Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Plastics, Fibers, Food & Beverage, Wood, Automotive, Paper, Oil & Gas. The incumbent will manage all department staff and communicate with other company departments ensuring a product is delivered on time, at budget, according to the contract scope, and is in line with customer and our expectations for performance and safety.

KEY WORK

  • Ensure the safe operation of all projects by following and enforcing all company and customer safety policies and regulations. Conduct weekly safety meetings, safety inspections / compliance, and incident reporting and investigation. Implement corrective actions to eliminate unsafe conditions, hazards, and behavior.
  • Manage all aspects of projects through estimation and construction phase, including scheduling, mobilization, material purchasing, prefabrication, subcontractor performance, demobilization, and billing submission. Establish performance and delivery criteria to ensure company and customer requirements are met.
  • Efficiently plan and manage daily manpower schedules for staff, subcontractors, etc. to expedite project safety, delivery, and profitability.
  • Interview and hire; develop, mentor, and train existing staff; coach and counsel existing staff to improve output; conduct performance appraisals.
  • Maintain a consistent team of pipe welders and pipe fitters.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to increase business in your designated area.
  • Positively represent the company when associating with customers, consultants, contractors, and other public and/or private agencies and organizations.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with existing and potential customers so that we are allowed to pursue projects enabling the company to experience growth and profitable revenue.
  • Authorize the issuance of contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and approve contractor invoices for payment.
  • Establish field measurements, accurate material take-offs, and scopes of work from field designs, drawings, and client specifications to draft and estimate quotes for project completion.
  • Must be willing to work in the field with tools, and not just manage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in a technical discipline or 3-5 years of experience in project management.

*Education requirement can be waived for internal candidates who have proven successful as a General Foreman for a minimum of five years and possess the desire and ability to perform role.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to generate accurate material lists based upon the customer’s scopes of work to ensure appropriate materials and components are ordered.
  • Ability to estimate projects from drawings and/or design builds.
  • Practical experience properly using hand and power tools to fit and install all types of pipe and/or similar tubular systems.
  • Experience in the fabrication and installation of piping systems typically used in the commercial and industrial applications.
  • Ability to inspect, correct, and coach team members on proper applications of fitting and welding procedures.
  • Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys.
  • Experience applying pipefitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems, including butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued, and fused joints.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to work from a company supplied vehicle up to 75% of time quoting scopes of work and visiting customers.
  • Proven experience managing people from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to industrial safety.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, or manipulate objects
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Drive and operate company assets, including but not limited to company vehicles and industrial man and material lifts.
  • Eye-hand coordination

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $90,000.00 per year
