Project Manager / Estimator

The Project Manager / Estimator is expected plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific jobs assigned to them. The Project Manager will work closely with upper management, sales and shop/field crews to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule. Additionally, the Project

Manager will assist in the transition between sales and daily operations. This includes estimating, material procurement, field support and work as part of team to ensure timely, high-quality products.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Leadership:

• Regularly meet with production and your field superintendent to get status updates on job progress, issue, or any other pertinent information.
• Work closely with the fabrication/field crew(s) to keep them motivated. This will include communicating with them frequently and resolving conflicts if necessary.

Project Planning and Management:

• Create a feasible plan that achieves the goals and objectives of the project while aligning with the organizations overall business strategy: maximize profits while minimizing costs. This consists of defining the scope, resources, time/financial commitment and how to monitor project progress.
• Assess, track, assign and execute RFCO's & CO's based on schedule of values and cost of services.
• Assist and perform in estimates/project takeoff on Fabrication projects, as needed.
• Prepare necessary material lists, equipment lists and project schedules. That being the time schedules and schedule of values associated with the specific project.
• Routinely visit his/her jobsites to monitor progress, coordinate with project foreman, audit site safety and review productivity.
• Continually update customers on job progression, problems and change order requests.
• Manages selection and submittal of all documentations.

Financial Planning and Management:

• Monitor the billing and collection process to ensure timely, accurate payments and collections.
• Review project budgets, estimates and actuals to determine if there are any issue that need to be addressed.
• Prepare and present forecasts as part of the monthly profit review process to include, if necessary, corrective action to resolve problems and restore quality, safety, productivity, and/or profitability.
• Communicate on an as-needed basis the financial health of projects to upper management and leadership team by means of reporting.
• Selects and monitors subcontractors.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 3 years related experience in the Structural Steel industry.
• General knowledge of AISC fabrication and erection standards and procedures.
• Experience leading successful project teams, including development of employees and maintaining relationships with external entities.
• Understand job cost reports as well as managing cost to complete throughout each project.
• Thorough understanding of how projects and change orders are quoted in regard to costs for material, labor and equipment.
• Proficient working in MS Word, Excel and other business-related software, including email, calendars, and contacts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiar with steel fit up, proper bolting technique, crane/rigging and AWS welding requirements.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Willingness to continually look for opportunities to improve processes, functions and actions to maximize efficiency and customer value.
• Continually update customers on job progression, problems and change order requests.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in handling and processing confidential information.
• Oversee design calculations and drawing creation for fabrication.
• Must be able to work in a team environment and present a professional image of the company image and core values.
• Ability to analyze numerical data and be able to make decisions upon that data.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, instructional manuals, work site directions, blueprints and written instructions.
