OVERVIEW:
Our client is looking for a Business Project Manager to help with a variety of Business projects. Projects are confidential, but examples of types of projects you may work on include, but are not limited to:
- A new system implementation requires changes for a tool, and application. Helping with the change management and defining new processes.
- Geo-expansion. Helping with the assessment, defining requirements, meeting with stakeholders, and helping expand into the new geography.
- Process improvement – assessing current state, looking for pain points, and producing solutions for cross functional teams.
- Enhancement type projects.
- Understanding how projects may affect how current systems are operating.
METHODOLOGY: 80% of projects are waterfall and 20% of projects are agile (understanding how to bring Agile and waterfall together is a plus).
TOP SKILLS:
Minimum of 5 years of enterprise level experience as a Business Project Manager(they should have a strong understanding of the business landscape/the business industry).
Experience with the following types of enterprise level projects (the projects will be multifaceted – sales, service, support, logistics, expansion, finance, compliance, etc.):
Supply Chain – this is where the projects are now. 1
eCommerce
Logistics and planning – This is where the bulk of the projects will be. 2
Operations (across the gamete)
Planning systems
Digital assessment channels
Design systems
Process improvement
Change Management
Minimum of 1 year of experience leading global, large scale, cross functional projects/programs.
Technical knowledge/understanding of the following: SAP, ERP, or CRM Systems in order to translate terms between the business, and technical teams/their IT PM counterpart (they will be working with an IT Project Manager as their counterpart, so deep technical expertise is not required). SAP transformation in previous projects a plus.
The ability to manage ambiguity/operate independently with minimal guidance once given context (looking for someone who will be proactive in getting answers for the unknown).
Excellent communication and presentation skills (must be able to create presentations and present to VP Level).
Experience putting together slide decks (open to PowerPoint or Keynote – however, must be willing to learn Keynote).
PLUS SKILLS:
- Experience with SAP – still very much a plus!
- Experience with Agile Projects
- Having an understanding on how to bring Agile and waterfall together
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree req.
DAY TO DAY:
- Maintain a level of constant and effective communication with managers, leaders, and subject matter experts in a variety of business, functional and technology areas.
- Manage cross project risks, issues, and decisions to drive to closure.
- Gain alignment between the technology and business strategy by proactive partnering with all levels.
- Run projects and programs independently.
- Set up milestones, progress reports, etc.
- Lead strategic programs, combined with the ability to execute at tactical project-level activities and tasks
- Provide timely updates and elevate critical risks to project, management, and senior-executive teams.
- Addresses escalations, quickly assess and develop root cause analysis and problem solution for operations escalations.
