Acutronic is looking for a Project Management (“PM”) Intern to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will assist the PM team with administrative, technical, and financial tasks on assigned projects from award to completion. Acutronic’s Simulation & Test Division is the global market leader in the development, design, and manufacture of Inertial Guidance Test Systems and Hardware-In-the-Loop motion simulators. These high-precision motion simulators are used in the aerospace, defense, automotive, and consumer electronics industries to test and calibrate inertial sensors (e.g., gyroscopes and accelerometers that measure movement); Inertial Navigation Systems; stabilized electro-optics; Electronic Stability Control systems; and the in-flight engagement scenarios of missiles. Systems include single- and multi-axis rate tables, flight motion simulators, and target motion simulators. The Division’s U.S.–based team also develops and refurbishes stabilized or gimbaled-platforms utilized in applications such as tracking mounts, gun turrets, and directed-energy systems.
Project Management Intern
Your Roles/Responsibilities:
- Assist with one or more projects that the Project Management team is working on, allowing opportunities to gain exposure and understanding of Project Management methodologies and processes in a professional environment
- Under the supervision of the Project Manager, ensure a smooth transition of awarded projects from Business Development through the project lifecycle
- Assist Project Manager to ensure project requirements are met, standards are followed, and documentation is captured
- Assist with project scope, schedule and budget responsibilities
- Be an active participant in the project by providing critical insight throughout the development
- Proactively communicate with team members and all other relevant stakeholders for each assigned project
- Support Purchasing to ensure contractual flow downs are met by vendors
- This role will be supervised by the Head of Program Management and mentored by a member of the Project Management team
Your Profile/Qualifications/Skills:
- A junior, senior, or graduate student currently working towards an engineering degree and/or enrolled in a program with a focus on Project Management or management in technology from an accredited college or university is preferred
- A strong interest in Project Management as a career is preferred
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Detailed and analytical
- Understanding of engineering concepts and fundamentals preferred
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- This is a temporary, full-time position that will occur during Summer break from academic studies. The company operates on a ‘9/80’ schedule which means our employees work 80 hours over 9 business days and have every other Friday off
- Work is generally performed in an office environment
