Description
The Project Finance Director is responsible for all aspects of NES, LLC's Project Finance activities (construction debt, perm debt, tax equity) while supporting the evaluation of project opportunities for the organization. This position will work closely with the CFO and CEO to maximize economic returns in the deal structuring of NES LLC's portfolio. This position will maintain and grow third party financing relationships to ensure that NES LLC has the most competitive financing sources available on the market. The position will also inform PPA prices, requiring a deep understanding of current market return expectations and long-term trends.
What You'll Do:
- Work closely with the CFO to maximize economic returns in deal structuring of NES LLC's portfolio by providing leadership in the following areas:
o Oversee all financial modeling activities for current and pipelined SPV development
opportunities for both selling and owning projects
o Maintain and grow third party financing relationships to ensure NES LLC has the most
competitive financing sources available on the market
o Inform PPA prices, supported by a deep understanding of current market return expectations and long-term trends
o Maintain a robust understanding of tax equity investing and provide
thought leadership for ensuring NES LLC maintains cutting edge approach to both leverage as a vehicle for enterprise growth and offsetting tax liabilities
• Provide oversight and assume overall responsibility for all Project Finance financial transaction
analyses:
o Lead the development and evaluation of models for contemplated construction
loans and tax equity financial structures
o Own the communication and direct interaction with financial institutions and advisors (lenders, tax equity) in regard to the structuring, negotiation and closing of structured Project Finance transactions
o Own the schedule of transactions closings, with support from legal
department to coordinate transaction documents. Directly interact with legal and development to prepare projects ready for transactions.
o Direct interaction with investors and advisors in regarding to the structuring, negotiation and closing of project sale transactions
o Training and mentoring of the Project Finance team in day-to-day analysis and transactional activities
• Support the Business Analytics department in
the refinement and adaptation of the development model, including adaptations for anticipated financial structures and different tax jurisdictions.
• Support the Development department in the early stage evaluation of applicable financing structures and participate in the transaction Risk Review process.
• Support the Organization and Structuring Department with bid strategies, providing guidance on return metrics and supporting credit
reviews.
• Support the Legal Department in discussions regarding the structuring of transactions.
• Support senior management in the evaluation of transactions for Investment Committee review and on special projects.
• Work with the Corporate Finance Department to evaluate the accounting, tax and cash attributes of proposed transactions.
• Represent Project Finance on cross-functional teams of internal and external resources.
• Support the project development process in all stages of development, financing, construction
and operation.
• Responsible for all Project Finance financial transaction analyses
• Supports the evaluation of transactions for Investment Committee review
• Supports the Development, Origination and Structuring, and Corporate Finance Departments with the early stage evaluation of transactions
• Works closely with senior management and the Corporate Finance, Development, Organization and Structuring, and Legal Departments
• Trains and mentors the Project Finance Team
• Represents Project Finance on cross-functional teams of internal and external resources
• Interacts directly with financial institutions and advisors
• Hire, train, manage, and develop members of the FA team.
What You'll Need:
- At least 5 years of relevant Project Finance or investment banking experience working within the renewable energy, real estate, or construction industries.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or relevant degree
- Project finance modeling experience.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Experience management an FP&A team.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, think critically, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Proficiency with O365.
Bonus Points:
- Solar or renewable energy experience.
- SQL and/or other data related querying languages.
- Experience with Procore or other construction management software.
