Project Estimator

Performing Takeoffs: The Civil Estimator will be responsible for performing accurate quantity takeoffs from project plans and specifications. This involves analyzing construction drawings, identifying materials and quantities needed for the project, and estimating costs based on the takeoff measurements.

Writing Bids: The Estimator will prepare and submit competitive bids for construction projects. This includes developing detailed cost estimates, creating bid proposals, and pricing out labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. The Estimator will also analyze project requirements and specifications to ensure accurate and comprehensive bids.

Utilizing Excel: Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel is essential for the Civil Estimator. Excel will be used to create and maintain spreadsheets for estimating purposes, organizing project data, calculating costs, and generating reports. The Estimator will leverage Excel functions and formulas to streamline the estimating process and ensure accuracy in bid preparation.

Cost Analysis: The Estimator will conduct cost analysis and feasibility studies to assess the financial implications of construction projects. This involves evaluating project scope, materials pricing, labor costs, overhead expenses, and profit margins to determine the overall project cost and competitiveness of the bid.

Collaborating with Project Teams: The Civil Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to gather project requirements, clarify specifications, and address any cost-related inquiries. The Estimator will participate in pre-bid meetings, negotiate pricing with vendors, and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the bidding process.

Staying Updated on Industry Trends: The Estimator will stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations for construction materials and services. This includes monitoring industry benchmarks, analyzing historical data, and leveraging industry insights to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.

Overall, the role of a Civil Estimator with 5 to 10 years of experience is critical in the construction industry for accurately estimating project costs, preparing competitive bids, and contributing to the success of construction projects. Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
