Job Overview

The Project Estimator at L & L Builders Co. is responsible for providing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring that bids are competitive and profitable. The estimator will work closely with the project management team to analyze project specifications and requirements, conduct site visits, prepare detailed material and labor lists, calculate project costs, and submit comprehensive bids within designated timeframes. The estimator will also collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and architects to gather and review pricing information, negotiate contracts, and evaluate proposals.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
• Conduct site visits to assess project scope, site conditions, and potential challenges or opportunities.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary pricing information and evaluate proposals.
• Prepare detailed material and labor takeoffs based on project blueprints and specifications.
• Calculate and compile accurate project costs, considering factors such as labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Manage and update cost databases, ensuring that accurate pricing data is readily accessible for future estimation purposes.
• Negotiate pricing and contract terms with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring the most cost-effective solutions.
• Collaborate with the project management team to review project estimates, discuss strategies, and identify potential risks.
• Provide support during the bidding process, including reviewing bid documents, preparing bid proposals, and submitting bids within designated timeframes.
• Participate in post-bid reviews and meetings to evaluate bid accuracy and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Project Estimator in the construction industry.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Extensive knowledge of construction procedures, materials, and equipment.
• Familiarity with construction software and estimation tools.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze blueprints and technical documents.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Degree or certification in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
