Project Engineer – Construction Facilities (Full Time)

ICMS is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team supporting USDA Agricultural Research Services in ALL of their locations. This will be fully REMOTE but include travel of up to 50% but Candidates must be local to the Washington-DC Metro area, within travel to headquarters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Facilities Division in managing projects at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC).
- The position is 100% remote with the occasional site visit to the BARC in Beltsville, MD, when needed, to review a project you would be overseeing. Typically, this is about once a quarter.
- Shall manage projects of design, repair and/or construction for facility repair and maintenance projects across the BARC in Beltsville, MD.
- Projects include replacing HVAC systems, upgrading network infrastructure, retro-commissioning, storm repairs, and irrigation repairs and upgrades
- Attends meetings, provides status updates, and updates project tracking spreadsheets
- Technically managing and developing facilities/site designs (electrical, civil, and structural/architectural) for new construction and/or renovation projects to existing facilities/structures.
- Working as technical consultant and/or as a contracting officer’s representative (COR) in the contracting process.
- Performing technical site assessments and providing engineering recommendations for design/construction solutions.
- Developing Statements of Work (SoWs).
- Developing Independent Government Estimates (IGE).
- Providing technical support to contracting during the Bid phase.
- Reviewing project submittals to meet applicable requirements, specifications, technical criteria/codes.
- Experience working on farm operations including greenhouses, irrigation control systems, flood control, and surface water management is preferred.
- Engineering experience working on research laboratories and/or facilities is preferred.
- Conducts project management activities for various construction and renovation projects
- Ability to read design drawings, specifications, and other various construction documents
Specific Requirements:
- A Bachelors’ degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, civil, electrical, structural) from an accredited ABET school.
- Minimum of 10+ years professional engineering experience
- US Citizenship and the ability to Obtain and Maintain a Public Trust.
- Experience working in or around research, laboratory, or hospital facilities preferred, but not necessary.
