Description
If you are a team player with a passion to drive your career in Energy & Commissioning, Popli Design Group (PDG) is the place for you! PDG is seeking a Project Engineer to add to our growing and talented team.
As a Project Engineer, Energy & Commissioning, your role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. You will apply mathematical and engineering principles to design HVAC systems. You will have the ability to travel and conduct construction site visits independently or with limited supervision. Conducting observation inspections and functional performance testing will be part of your duties, as well as performing energy calculations, modeling, and audits. You will collaboratively prepare complete project deliverables and provide design reviews to ensure compliance with energy codes and maintain quality assurance. Additionally, you will support future energy code development, serve as a technical specialist for upper-level management and staff, actively contribute to project management and team building efforts, present engineering results both internally and externally, and assist in business development and proposal writing.
Responsibilities

• Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to HVAC system design.
• Able to travel and conduct construction site visits independently or with limited supervision.
• Able to perform observation inspections and functional performance testing.
• Able to perform energy calculation/modeling or energy audits.
• Able to prepare complete project deliverables collaboratively.
• Provide design review in compliance with energy code and for quality assurance.
• Support future energy code development.
• Assists upper level management and staff as a technical specialist.
• Actively supports and contributes to project management and team building.
• Present engineering results internally and externally.
• Assists in business development and proposal writing.

Requirements

• Proficiency in building MEP and energy systems.
• Experience in Mechanical/Plumbing system design or energy modeling/auditing or commissioning/retro-commissioning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with Revit and AutoCAD is preferred.
• Familiar with Energy Conservation Construction Code of NYS or ASHRAE 90.1 or LEED Reference.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Actively listens and clarifies and executes accordingly.
• Project management and business development skills are preferred.

Experience, Education, and Certification

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Energy/Sustainability related field.
• 3-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, energy and/or commissioning related field: mechanical and electrical engineering, energy consulting, commissioning, control system integration, or facility operations.
• Licensed PE or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or LEED Accredited Professional is preferred.

Work Environment

• Interact with PDG personnel both within the department and outside.
• Interact with external clients and construction team.
• Professional office work environment.

Physical Demands

• This job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
• Lifting up to 15lbs is required.
• Travel is required within NY State (up to 30%).

Salary Description
$80,000 - $110,000
