Job description

Milroy Construction is looking to add a Project Engineer to our San Francisco Bay Area Team!

About us: Milroy Construction is a general contractor located in Mountain View, California. Our current headcount is 40 and we are growing. We primarily manage commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the Bay Area. We specialize in small to midsize projects (currently up to $30 million in size) and will often take on our clients most technical and challenging work. We pride ourselves in delivering a best-in-class project management experience and are focused on teamwork and creating a positive work environment.

Why Choose Milroy? While we are smaller in headcount, we work at many of the Bay Area’s best locations. Our portfolio includes projects with Stanford University and Apple Inc. In addition to top tier clients, we work with the Bay Areas best subcontractors and bring the A-team to every project we manage. An advantage to our small size is that you won’t be stuck on a huge project doing the same repetitive task for months on end. You also won’t be asked to work ridiculous hours. We respect work life balance and strive to provide a great work environment for all levels of experience. We also offer the most competitive compensation package in the industry.

Who Should Apply? Anyone with a construction engineering degree, architecture degree, or someone who has worked in the industry as field engineer or PE.

What you will do:

  • Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Design and Engineering: Assist with the technical aspects of the project, including reviewing and interpreting design drawings, specifications, and ensuring engineering requirements are met.
  • Resource Allocation: Assist in management of the allocation of resources such as labor, equipment, and materials to meet project needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee quality control and ensure that construction work meets design standards, industry regulations, and safety codes.
  • Cost Management: Monitor project expenses, track costs, and identify opportunities to stay within the project budget.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings, change orders, and construction records.
  • Subcontractor Management: Coordinate and manage subcontractors, including procurement, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address potential project risks, working to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective communication between project stakeholders, including project managers, clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve technical issues, discrepancies, and challenges encountered during construction.
  • Procurement: Manage the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and services needed for the project.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the project adheres to local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Health and Safety: Promote and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Schedule Management: Work to meet project milestones and deadlines by managing the project schedule.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on project progress, budget status, and other key metrics to project managers and stakeholders.

Project Engineer Qualifications:

  • A two or four-year degree in an accredited engineering or construction management program.
