Responsibilities
Discovering signatures and understanding threats by creating materials, methods, and technologies to detect and analyze them is the mission of the Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Technologies Division. To assist in this mission, the Analytical Chemistry & Instrumentation (ACAI) group seeks an entry-level Project Coordinator supporting projects and groups in the Physical Sciences Facility. While the individual will report to the Mass Spec Gamma team within the ACAI group, they may also be matrixed to the Applied Radiation Detection and/or Radiochemistry groups to provide for their Project Coordinator needs as well.
  • Assists in daily coordination of project(s) including preparing and maintaining project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements.
  • Tracks progress and identifies/resolves obstacles.
  • Communicates to internal and external clients.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions (PRs) and tracks procurements and service contracts throughout lifecycle.
  • Supports business office in setting up financial structures, work breakdown structures, and maintains financial integrity.
  • Has knowledge of a wide-range of PNNL business systems.
  • May perform some administrative tasks such and arranging meetings, developing agendas and preparing progress reports.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED and 10 years of relevant work experience -OR-
  • AA or higher and 8 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly tuned organizational skills, with the ability to organize oneself.
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced Microsoft Project Skills.
  • Familiarity with research and development organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse set of project personnel to accomplish a goal and gather input/deliverables from staff with no direct authority over them.
  • Skilled with electronic communication tools for collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to perform as a team member on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize commitments and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with high expectations for quality.
  • Demonstrated initiative with an entrepreneurial, 'can-do' spirit.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and versatility with an ability to understand issues from multiple points of view, but also possess a bias toward action with an ability to follow through on implementation.
  • Possession of an active DOE Q clearance.

Additional Information
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.
Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance with 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.
  • Drug Testing: All Security Clearance positions are Testing Designated Positions, which means that the candidate selected is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).

Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for 12 months can be demonstrated.
Testing Designated Position
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The candidate selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing for illegal drugs, including marijuana, consistent with the Controlled Substances Act and the PNNL Workplace Substance Abuse Program.
