Project Accountant

Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers to track and analyze project expenses, providing timely and accurate financial information.
- Conduct regular cost analyses to identify variances between budgeted and actual expenses.
- Implement cost control measures and provide recommendations to optimize project financial performance.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports for each project, highlighting key performance indicators, financial trends, and areas of concern.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations in all financial reporting activities.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and forecasts, working closely with project teams to gather relevant information.
- Monitor budgetary performance and provide insights to support effective decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, procurement, and other stakeholders to gather financial data and ensure accurate project accounting.
- Communicate financial information in a clear and concise manner to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to project finances.
- Implement audit recommendations to enhance financial controls and processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in project accounting or a similar role within the utility or construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Familiarity with utility industry regulations and standards is a plus.
