Overview
Harrington Center for the Arts (HCA) is seeking a highly motivated, customer-first individual to serve as our Events Manager. This position will be responsible for special events and program management, managing volunteers and interns, and coordinating vendors. The position is a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the President and Vice President.
Duties
- Manages all aspects of events including event logistics, vendors, committees, and volunteers.
- Plans and implements events according to the overall events calendar and goals of HCA.
- Works with interns, committees, independent contractors, and other staff to ensure that event needs are met.
- Produces, publishes, and distributes email campaigns for all events, programs, and general announcements.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with venues, volunteers, vendors, attendees, etc., and reaching out to them via email, text, phone calls, etc when needed.
- Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports on events and program initiatives.
- Creating and ensuring contracts are signed between HCA and each event participant
- Responsible for thanking event participants, donors, and volunteers after each program and event.
- May need to help de-escalate situations with disgruntled event participants, vendors, or volunteers.
- Post-event reports and budgets.
- Oversee the Event Coordinator and assign responsibilities as outlined in their job description.
- Other duties as assigned.
A successful candidate has
- Proven success in event planning and execution.
- Ability to plan events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience, and objectives.
- Must have excellent writing skills.
- Must effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to diverse groups of people.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with the staff, board of directors, committee members, volunteers, event attendees, and any involved third parties.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Analytical skills to report successes, failures, and prepare reports.
- Must be able to accomplish projects independently.
- Working knowledge of Google Suite and Constant Contact is preferred.
Qualifications
- Degree from a four-year accredited college.
- 4+ years’ experience in a role focused on event management.
- Experience in a role focused on sales, marketing, fundraising, and events.
- Other: While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to stand for an extended period. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
