The starting salary for this position is $58,348 to $68,642 depending on qualifications; full salary range for this position is $58,348 to $92,789.
Normal Public Library seeks a creative, innovative, tech-savvy, team-oriented librarian to join an outstanding team dedicated to providing excellent services and programs to all in our community. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.
Develop, plan, and present innovative programs, including technology and maker programs, for all ages
Assists customers and colleagues with maker equipment, including 3D printers, cutting machines, sewing machines, and other technology as it is acquired
Maintains maker equipment and its software
Works with the Programming and Youth Services Manager to develop policies and procedures for customer use of maker equipment
Assist customers via readers' advisory, reference, and technology
Work with colleagues to analyze existing programs, services, and community trends, to identify the needs and interests of diverse communities
Assess library resources, services, and technology
Supervise staff as assigned in the absence of a supervisor
Serve on library committees
Create positive experiences for library patrons by effectively and efficiently performing job tasks; present a positive image of the library in attitude, communications, and appearance while performing duties in both the public and staff areas
Demonstrate professional, positive, cooperative, team-oriented working relationships
Provide direct service at service desks
Perform other work duties as assigned, relative to the operational needs of the library
MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program
Proven experience in learning, implementing, and teaching new technologies
Proven experience in library programming
Proven experience providing reader's advisory and customer service in a library setting
Willingness and courage to explore new ideas and emerging technologies, create, and innovate
Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of diversity and the importance of inclusion as shown by a commitment to apply and incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an organization
