Housing Assistance Corporation is seeking a full-time, 35 hour per week, Program Support Specialist in our Leased Housing Department.
The Program Support Specialist will support the Leased Housing Department’s clients to navigate their status within the program. This position will provide exemplar customer service and support for department voucher holders and landlords. Must be available to work in person until 5pm Monday-Friday.
Basic expectations of this position are to act as the customer service arm of the department and work with clientele as customer service support point person to resolve any concerns that the clientele present. This position will work closely with Program Counselors and Inspections staff to ensure the correct information is being provided to clients. This position will also provide follow up support to make sure the issue was resolved in a timely manner. This position will engage with the high volume of phone calls, emails, and walk-in clientele each day to resolve crisis or questions that are presenting.
Essential functions include:
· Track and monitor the needs of clientele who visit or call the department
· Gather documentation from files and databases
· Display knowledge of program regulations
· Assess needs of clientele and make appropriate referrals and provide the appropriate information per programs regulations. Link clients to appropriate services within HAC and the community.
· Assist clients with all procedures necessary in maintaining their program participation, including recertification, lease-ups, annual and interim income adjustments, changes in family composition, move-outs, transfers, inspections, evictions, and other procedures
· Educate program participants and owners as to the respective responsibilities and obligations under program requirements and fair housing laws to avoid violations such as damage to property or other issues that could result in eviction or loss of funding eligibility
· Maintain tenant’s files, in accordance with policies and procedures and as prescribed by DHCD Administration plan and HUD regulations.
· Maintain basic knowledge regarding housing inspection requirements and procedures; assist tenants in the resolution of issues that may be identified during property re-inspection to ensure successful inspection and continued rental assistance eligibility
· Follow up with clients served to ensure their problems or requests have been resolved/completed
· Engage with Program Counselors/Inspectors to assist with participant barriers.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of federal and state voucher programs is preferred.
