In 2015 Brilliant Detroit was created to provide a radically new approach to kindergarten readiness in neighborhoods. The idea was to create a unique delivery model in our approach to early childhood development by using underutilized housing stock to create early child and family centers in neighborhoods. Brilliant Detroit homes provide holistic services for kids 0-8 predicated on evidence-based programs around health, family support, and education. Brilliant Detroit was born to create kid success neighborhoods. Today, in each location, neighbors come together for fellowship, activities and learning to assure school readiness, and provide needed support for families.

Job Summary
This position will focus on supporting educational and family support programming to ensure mission alignment. This includes leading several key programs in the portfolio including Family Literacy, STEAM and Springboard - High Dosage Tutoring. This position will also support the Program department’s day-to-day operations. An ideal candidate must work well with multiple stakeholders and be able to work in a fast paced environment. The Program Support Specialist will report to the Programming Department lead and be a part of the Program department.
Activities and Responsibilities:
- Support the coordination and implementation of active education and family support programs across Brilliant Detroit hubs
- Systemize and arrange program materials: including ordering, receiving, assembling, and tracking materials
- Coordinate key programming resources (people, time, and materials) to ensure active education and family support programs are executed smoothly
- Serve as staff lead for Springboard Learning Accelerator
- Coordinate pre-programming, enrollment, professional development for teachers, family orientation, team huddles
- Collect and input crucial programmatic data
- Observe instruction and provide regular feedback to teachers
- Facilitate education and family support programming as needed
- Provide general administrative support to the department, including generating reports, creating presentations, and conducting research, as requested
- Assist with the data collection and entry for the programming department
- Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail and mail
- Assist with special projects and events, as needed or assigned
- Participate in training and staff development as required
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience with community-based programming and implementation with relevant logistical experience
- Experience working in youth literacy programming preferred
- Background in office administration, human/social services, preferred
- Technical proficiency in Google Suite and virtual meeting platforms
- Ability to work cooperatively with individuals of diverse racial/economic/cultural backgrounds
- Must be able to to lift and move at least 25 pounds
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills; detail-oriented and efficient
- Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills
- This role will require late afternoon and evening work. Many programs take place after children are done with the school day.
- Local travel and reliable transportation required; COVID vaccinated individuals preferred
