WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A PROGRAM SECURITY OFFICER APPRENTICE

As a Program Security Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding classified information and contributing to the development and implementation of a multi-disciplined security program for complex, major acquisition Security Access Program (SAP) efforts. You'll help ensure the proper handling of classified and maintain the related DOD office files. You'll control who enters the facility, verify clearances, escort visitors, and brief them on security requirements.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS PROGRAM SECURITY OFFICER APPRENTICE JOB

There are several key skills and qualifications required to be a Program Security Officer,. A bachelor's or AAS degree is preferred, although relevant experience can be substituted for the degree requirement. Additionally, 1-3 years of broad general security experience is essential. It is important to have a basic knowledge of personnel, industrial, physical, IT/IA, and information security disciplines to effectively contribute to the security program. You should be familiar with SAPs and SCIFs.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are crucial, as this role involves relaying important information and interacting with staff and visitors at all levels. Exceptional interpersonal skills are necessary to foster effective communication and collaboration within the team.

Finally, an active TS clearance with SCI access is required (TS eligible for SCI, or TS with SCI in the past 2 years will be considered).
