Work that Matters. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is a national leader in the financing of affordable housing and revitalizing communities. Annually, DHCD finances approximately 2,700 units of multifamily rental housing in 40 properties, amounting to $350 million in construction and permanent financing. Funding comes from a variety of sources, including state-appropriated funds, taxable and tax-exempt revenue bonds, federal low-income housing tax credits, federal HOME funds, and other federal funds. Additionally, DHCD administers rental assistance programs and innovative initiatives designed to expand affordable housing opportunities for persons with disabilities, increase the energy efficiency and sustainability of affordable multifamily developments, and preserve rental housing.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro Stop.

POSITION DUTIES

Would you like to join this nationally-recognized, award-winning organization and apply your skills to this high public purpose and challenging area? DHCD is looking to immediately hire a tech-savvy Information Technology (IT) Deputy Director.

The Deputy Director, Information Technology (DDIT) serves as second-in command for the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and supports the operational needs of the Division of Information Technology. The DDIT supervises IT Teams, and responsible for the design, development, release and maintenance of technology systems and services for DHCD initiatives and functions. The DDIT oversees the effective delivery of computer operations and production support, system design and development and database administration, system administration, Cloud Architectures, network operations and administration, PC/desktop support, and customer service. Identifies and implements best practices for optimizing infrastructure and operation costs, improving system performance and ensuring service-level requirements are met.

The DDIT organizes with the State Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Chief Data Officer (CDO) to ensure data security standards and safeguards are achieved. The DDIT plans, organizes, and implements programs within major organizational policies and reports progress of major activities to the Chief Information Officer and the Chief Operating Officer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field from an accredited college and university.

Experience: Eight years' experience in IT Operations (i.e computer operations and production support, system design and development and database administration, system administration, Cloud Architectures, network operations and administration, PC/desktop support, and customer service) with four of those years supervising IT teams.
