Job description

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Program Manager II position within the Opus College of Business.

 

This position is budgeted to work 30 hours a week, a 0.75 FTE, and is fully benefits eligible.

JOB SUMMARY

The Program Manager will implement innovative programs that create pathways into meaningful careers in finance for diverse and talented students in support of the O’Neill’s Scholars Program and the Opus College of Business’ strategic plan. In conjunction with managing the O’Neill Scholars Program, this leader will support all scholarship cohort programs with a focus on underrepresented students, partnering with the undergraduate business staff and faculty team, with a focus on program recruitment, cohort management including cocurricular activities, career paths and professional opportunities. The role will provide student advising support to scholarship cohort members, plan engagement opportunities and development of the strategic vison while supporting underrepresented students, driving equitable access and outcomes, and creating an inclusive environment for all.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Program Manager will lead new and existing initiatives within the Undergraduate Program, including:

 

Program Recruitment

  • Partner with community organizations that serve under-resourced and under-represented students to build trust and engagement among potential candidates for Dougherty Family College and OCB finance majors.
  • Deepen already established relationships with teachers, guidance counselors, and students at targeted high schools to inform them of academic and career opportunities in the field of finance and raise awareness of the O’Neill Scholars Program.
  • Specially design finance-related programs and activities hosted on the St. Thomas campus for students from targeted high schools.
     

Program Development, Management and Professional Mentorship

  • Specially designed co-curricular opportunities to build knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for careers in finance.
  • Plan field trips to Castlelake and other investment management and financial services firms.
  • Create Networking events and a mentorship program to connect students with members of the profession.
  • Develop affinity group with cohort-building and social support activities that foster inclusion and belonging at St. Thomas and deepen students’ knowledge of and interest in finance.
  • Create an O’Neill Scholars alumni group semi-annual meetings for networking and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide support for other scholarship programs with a focus on underrepresented students

 

Program Advising

  • Advise students individually and/or with groups regarding academic core and/or departmental requirements, appropriate class selection, academic policies and procedures, and campus resources and monitor academic performance.
  • Assist students with identification of long-term goals and career plans.
  • Work to position students to meet requirements for graduation within appropriate periods of time while preparing them to meet future goals.
     

Budget

  • Monitor budget for wrap around support and service for programs.

 

Collaboration

  • Partner with all undergraduate program staff, faculty, and student clubs to ensure that all programs, organizations, and student support services are inclusive and collaborate with other university units to align strategies, including Student Diversity and Inclusion Services, a unit within student affairs that exists to enhance the campus climate and holds deep commitment in developing and sustaining a diverse campus community in the broadest sense.

 


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 
  • Five years of experience in program administration

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Experience working with students from various diverse backgrounds
  • Experience coordinating programming and events
