The Program Manager (PM), Honors Experience directly manages the Honors Village, a 1056-bed complex for undergraduate students in the W. A. Franke Honors College with both dorm rooms and apartments. This is a unique opportunity, as the Honors Village is UArizona's first public-private partnership (P3) property, owned by American Campus Communities (ACC). Reporting to an Assistant Director of Residential Education, the Manager will serve as the primary liaison to ACC, the Arizona Student Unions '85 North Dining Hall, and the W. A. Franke Honors College. The PM will directly supervise the dorm's Community Director, and indirectly supervise the Graduate Community Director. The PM and the Community Director(s) will co-manage the building community, 26 Resident Assistants (including Lead RAs), and Office Assistant(s). Together with supervisees and partners, the PM will shape the vision for this community and cultivate a high-quality and engaging residential facility. The PM will also play a key role in assessing and evaluating the operations and engagement of the Honors Residential Experience.

The PM is a 12-month, live-on position and member of the Residential Education team in Housing and Residential Life. The PM serves on a department on-call rotation (MOD), providing crisis response and management.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operationsand Partnerships

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Housing & Residential Life and ACC, Honors College, the '85 North Dining Hall, and the student services located in the North District of campus - Campus Recreation, Counseling & Psychological Services, Parking & Transportation Services, etc.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships to support the success of the Honors Village
  • Oversee residential curriculum (Wildcat Living) visioning and implementation while supporting the Honors College curriculum and vision
  • Attend Honors College meetings as needed
  • Perform and/or supervise a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to, reports, check-in/out procedures, room/apartment transfers, occupancy management, desk management, timekeeping for staff, purchasing, payroll
  • Manage assigned Hall account funds, which include Operations, Programming, and Staff Development
  • Meet regularly with ACC General Manager to ensure a high-quality building operation and condition
  • Oversee and facilitate hall damage assessment charges with Housing team in conjunction with ACC

Supervision

  • Directly supervise the Community Director(s) and with the Community Director(s), co-manage building community of 1000+ residents, 26 Resident Assistants (including Lead RAs), and Office Assistant(s)
  • Facilitate individual one-on-one meetings to engage in ongoing mentorship and supervisee development, review student and facilities concerns, and evaluate staff
  • Work with Community Director(s) to plan weekly staff meetings to review departmental notices, student and facilities updates, and ongoing training; attend as needed
  • Support student and professional staff selection and training processes
  • Aid in the development and execution of departmental trainings around interpersonal communication, relationship building, conflict mediation, crisis management, and cultural competency skills

Advising

  • Support the student voice by maintaining a relationship with the Residence Hall Association and the National Residence Hall Honorary
  • Support Honors Village Hall Council and student social events and initiatives
  • Support residential student connections to and advocacy with other student services in Honors Village and North District

CommunityDevelopment

  • Create an environment where all students can learn and be engaged in Wildcat Living.
  • Implement and assess student learning through the department's residential curriculum
  • Liaise with the Honors College to support their program development

Student Behavioral Education & CrisisManagement

  • Serve on-call at the Manager on Duty (MOD) level to provide campus-wide elevated support to the Community Directors On Call (CDOC) and liaise with Residential Education Director and Dean On Call
  • Provide crisis intervention and resource/referral agent to residents and staff in need
  • Educate residents about Housing & Residential Life Policies and Procedures, University Code of Conduct, regulations, rights, and responsibilities
  • May serve as conduct/appeal hearing officer and facilitate meetings to promote opportunities for student accountability and reflection as needed

OTHERRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend departmental meetings, including Res Ed all-staff meetings
  • Participate in scheduled departmental trainings and professional development opportunities
  • Serve on department committees and represent Housing & Residential Life to university committees as assigned
  • Assist with residence hall opening and closing; lead these processes for Honors Village dorm
  • Assist colleagues in completing departmental projects as necessary
  • Work with Housing & Residential Life Marketing and Honors College to help promote the Honors Village
  • May include management of summer programs and housing
  • Manage coverage during Winter Closure
  • Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet Housing & Residential Life and University goals and objectives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Honors students and/or W. A. Franke Honors College
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity and an ability to work with a wide variety of people while recognizing the needs of students with an underrepresented or oppressed identity
  • Skills necessary to respond to internal and external constituent needs in a timely, accurate and professional manner
  • Ability to perform assessment and evaluation of residence life services and programs, interpret and report data, compare data to bench marking data and stay current in trends of research in residential life and housing
  • Knowledge of personnel management, including the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of professional and paraprofessional staff Research skills, including interpreting research as it is reported in professional literature and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of facilities management, including the day-to-day custodial and maintenance operations in residence halls
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and personal communication, writing, public speaking and presenting, teaching and instruction, facilitating meetings (group and 1:1)
  • Knowledge of student affairs field and specialized functions
  • Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and its application to honors students
  • Ability to contribute to and interpret policy
  • Ability to participate in long- and short-range planning
  • Basic knowledge of budget oversight
  • Understanding of occupancy management
  • Demonstrated commitment to the team and advancing departmental and University goals
Minimum Qualifications

MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or a related field
    Minimum of three years' experience working in housing or residential life or related area
  • Experience in the following areas: supervision, conduct adjudication, crisis management/duty, and advising student groups
  • Experience building relationships with campus partners 

SUPPLEMENTALREQUIREMENTS:

  • Housing & Residential Life is a security sensitive department, and this position requires a finger-print criminal background check and a Motor Vehicle Division check
  • May be required to drive which requires a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
