Purpose of the position
Program Manager, Fleet Maintenance Training is responsible for developing and executing a professional mechanic training program that attracts, retains, and develops a high-quality maintenance force across the RAS-North fleet. This role is responsible for creating, facilitating, and maintaining an effective and consistent Fleet Maintenance Training program for fleet mechanics.
Principal Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and refine program and curriculum for the following:
- New mechanic hires from initial onboarding through final certification as a basic mechanic in our organization.
- Advanced training for existing mechanics that will certify at those increased levels.
- Ongoing sustainment training for all mechanics to ensure skills are maintained.
- Train-the-Trainer course for mechanic trainers who will assist in training other mechanics.
- Transport Manager/Supervisor Maintenance Training to effectively manage mechanics and understand basic maintenance skills/knowledge/processes
- Develop, maintain and refine training materials encompassing classroom training, hands on practical training, evaluations/testing/certification, and feedback surveys.
- Select appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual education, group instruction, self-study, and/or computer-based training for each training course.
- Conduct Train-the-Trainer courses for mechanic trainers to certify and ensure they are subject matter experts in best operating practices (BOPs) to ensure consistency of training at field locations.
- Develop, maintain and refine all Fleet Maintenance Training materials to include maintenance manual and Fleet Maintenance Training intranet portal
- Fleet maintenance knowledge champion. Strives to be the subject matter expert in the commercial Fleet Maintenance industry staying current in the latest technologies or process changes to ensure training curriculum is up to date.
- Collaborate with fleet Program Managers/engineers to ensure BOPs are aligned to fleet equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with driver training Program Manager to ensure BOPs from the Fleet Maintenance perspective are effectively trained to our drivers to ensure proper care for equipment.
- Drives productivity through upskilling of the work force.
- Manage relationship and coordinate scheduling of third-party training.
- Leads maintenance council that encompasses highly skilled and motivated mechanics.
- Maintain a relationship with TMC committees to bring BOPs back to the fleet
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of mechanic experience.
- 3 years of teaching or supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s or associates degree a plus
- Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel, & Word
- ASE Certifications
- Welding Experience a plus
- Knowledge of OEM portals, software, and equipment
- Able to travel 50%.
