The Office of Research Development within the Office of Research seeks to fill the Program Director of Strategic Research Advancement position.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for planning, designing, administering, reviewing, and evaluating this program. Will work closely with the deans, chairs, and other senior leaders to identify current and aspirational institutional strengths and priorities, emphasizing areas outlined in the Research Strategic Plan. Will create pathways to center-type proposals, including the identification of aspirational programs and potential FSU researchers in the space, bringing teams together to establish working relationships well before the launch of a large proposal effort, and promoting integrated, collaborative research inclusive of all disciplines as well as outside affiliates and community stakeholders. Work with university researchers to address the challenges often faced with these efforts that may hinder the frequency and success of large efforts. Will create opportunities for “team science” across the campus.
Working in concert with Research Development Coordinators (RDC) to move large center/strategic efforts forward from concept and team development to proposal submission. In this space, the PD will lead, guide, and interpret, and the RDC will be involved in the proposal preparation, leaning on other RD staff as appropriate.
In coordination with The Graduate School and with guidance from senior leaders across the university, foster a student mentorship culture that encourages research. For example, create a “Collaborative Research Program” to provide training and mentorship to graduate students and interested scientists.
Performs other duties as assigned as they relate to Strategic Research development at Florida State University, including serving or leading university committees.QualificationsA Bachelor's degree and six years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.)
Preferred QualificationsMasters or Ph.D preferred.
