Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County (BGCHC) provides fun, engaging, high-quality before-and-after school programming at 7 Hernando County public schools. We also provide early childhood education at our 7 preschools.
In your job as a Unit Director, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of one of our before-and-after school programs for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. You clock in at 6:15am and prepare for your day. You have a quick check-in with the 6 Youth Development Professionals you supervise. At 6:30am, members start to arrive and your main priority is providing a fun and SAFE environment for them, assuring staff follow their prepared schedule and lesson plans that you approved. After the members are released to school, you work in the office until 10:15am completing required paperwork, cleaning, and other daily tasks. If it's a Friday, you'll travel to the administrative office when the members go to school so you can attend meetings or trainings, turn in paperwork, and check in with key administrative staff.
You return and clock in at 2:00pm and prepare for a fun afternoon! You oversee the program but make time to communicate with parents, assist staff, handle escalated behavior issues, and other tasks to ensure a smoothly run program.
