The County of Riverside's University Health System (RUHS) has an exciting opportunity for a Program Director with the Department of Public Health Nutrition Division.
- Master's degree in nutrition/dietetics
- Registered Dietitian/or eligible for registration required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with experience communicating with community partners, the public, and colleagues
- Experience coordinating activities for multiple projects, facilitating training and presentations
- Experience with Microsoft applications
Define immediate and long-range goals and objectives of federal/state funded programs or the branch programs in RUHS-PH.
Establish and revise program policies and procedures according to program guidelines/ regulations.
Prepare grant applications and monitor grant compliance.
Prepare and monitor budgets for the RCCFC federal/state funded programs or the branch programs in RUHS-PH.
Conduct on-going assessment of community needs; monitor and evaluate programs.
Attend state, regional, and local meetings/conferences.
Coordinate and collaborate with other public and private agencies providing services to Riverside County residents and their families.
Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate program quality assurance (QA) activities.
Assist in determining the need of staff education and in-service training.
Prepare and supervise the preparation of reports, articles, press releases for RUHS-PH programs.
Monitor legislation to determine impact on the branch programs in RUHS-PH.
Interview, select, assign, direct, train, evaluate and discipline staff.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree, preferably with a major in social work, psychology, Public Health, biological science, health science, nursing, education, health education, nutrition, public, business administration, or a closely related field to the assignment.
Experience: Two years of managerial and/or supervisory experience in a Public Health or social services program.
OPTION II
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in social work, psychology, Public Health, biological science, health science, nursing, education, health education, nutrition, dietetics, public or business administration, or a closely related field to the assignment.
Experience: Three years of managerial and/or supervisory experience in a Public Health or social services program.
BOTH OPTIONS
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of Public Health programs, health administration, or social services; basic organizational principles and procedures in the field of Public Health, maternal child and adolescent health, nutrition services, health education, disease control, or social services; sociological and economic characteristics of the community; community resources available for assistance in Public Health or social services programs; proper English construction and grammar; functions and service of state and federal health agencies and voluntary health or social services agencies; cultural and ethnic values, customs and traditions of county populations (target groups).
Ability to: Plan, organize, develop, administer, and evaluate the work of staff in a Public Health or social services program; prepare and monitor budgets; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other departments, outside agencies, and the general public; speak and write effectively, including preparation of clear and concise reports; demonstrate organizational and interpersonal skills needed to work in complex situations, and knowledgeable about local community resources that provide services to children.

Pre-Employment

Probationary Period
