Group Summary

 

The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees the management of all programs and assumes ultimate responsibility for deliverables to assigned business unit customers.  Sets strategies to support business unit objectives and determines how to implement business unit directives.  Provides and applies broad and in-depth operational managerial/technical leadership and expertise to support Division new business activities and resolve problems.  Manages and motivates team toward goals and objectives.  Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships on a domestic and global level.  Serves as expert resource by possessing solid knowledge of Company and customer products and requirements.  Ensures all programs attain established goals with a clear focus on quality, cost, delivery and complete customer satisfaction.  Drives continuous improvement efforts in all areas of program management.  Develops common program management disciplines and ensures consistent use of these disciplines in all programs.  Performs other duties as necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOBDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities listed below are of a large scope as measured by budget responsibility, staff count, and complexity of multiple disciplines, processes, and/or functional areas of responsibility.  Decisions involve substantial and broad impact and risk to the organization, typically at a corporate and/or divisional level.
  • Represents the Division by setting strategies to support business objectives.  Determines how to implement business directives.
  • Oversees the management of all programs and assumes ultimate responsibility for deliverables to assigned customers. Provides and applies broad and in-depth operational managerial/technical leadership and expertise to support Division new business activities and resolve multiple discipline, functional or process problems.
  • Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships on domestic and global levels.  Serves as expert resource by possessing solid knowledge of Company and customer products and requirements.
  • Coordinates with Account Managers to assure programs achieve quality, cost, delivery and complete customer satisfaction.    Specific focus on achieving internal profit mandates.
  • Develops common program management disciplines and ensures consistent use of these disciplines in all programs.
  • Meets or exceeds program requirements as outlined in MSR’s 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4.   Establishes with Launch Manager program specific criteria to be met prior to transfer to Launch Manager.   Criteria to be signed off by   General Manager.
  • Monitors quotes in process for Division in conjunction with the BDM.  Assures timing objectives are achieved.  Supports Account Managers in managing quote kick-off and MSR3 to facilitate accurate and complete quotes to the customer.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus minimum ten years diverse professional and managerial experience.  Must have thorough and complete mastery of respective field.  Must be broadly familiar with technologies, products, customers, and programs.  Achievement and experience with managing a broad range of products preferred.
  • Must be able to oversee the management of multiple programs with a diverse customer base.  Takes responsibility for critical programs based on large sales volume and/or strategic importance.  Must be able to develop long-term strategies to meet future business needs and growth opportunities
  • Demonstrated superior decision making/leadership abilities in managing multiple programs to meet goals (quality, cost and delivery of programs) from concept through final customer approval and transfer to Production Team.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner when performing job duties.  Must have excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing project financial responsibilities (including profit/loss), leading in the development/measurement of key financial project measures and their effect on customer programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others inside and outside the company.
  • Willing to travel periodically.
