The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University is excited to announce the opening for a Program Coordinator - Coord Program I in the Office of Engaged and Experiential Programs (OEEP)

Our Team:

The Office of Engaged and Experiential Programs is home to a number of programs in the ILR School, including the Credit Internship, Global Service-Learning, ILR exchange and various engaged learning and research programs. The office oversees the administration of these programs as well as serves as an advising center for students interested in exploring and participating in Engaged and Experiential Programs. As a school-wide resource, the office provides guidance and support to faculty and staff who offer engaged programs.


What we are seeking:

The Program Coordinator promotes and supports ILR's mission in research, teaching, and co-curricular programming across the U.S. and around the world. Guided by our an academic committee and the ILR leadership, we aim to support the integration of international and engaged learning dimensions into teaching and research at ILR. The incumbent in this role will be an integral member of the Office of Engaged & Experiential Programs team and the larger Student Experience Team.

This position will coordinate and support new and existing programs and initiatives focused on, but not exclusive to, global engaged programs for students in the ILR Office of Engaged & Experiential Programs (OEEP). OEEP provides domestic and international opportunities for ILR students at all points in their collegiate careers. Opportunities will include credit and non-credit bearing co-curricular programs, coursework, summer engaged programs and research experiences.


Candidate Profile:
We are seeking candidates who appreciate and will take ownership in the following, and not limited to:

  • Coordinating and managing the day-to-day administration of a wide-variety of student programming. Assist with establishing goals, objectives and evaluation criteria. Manage application, selection process and onboarding process for wide-variety of international and service-learning programs.
  • Administer the ILR Visiting Fellows Program; work with Faculty to assist with bringing visiting scholars to ILR; service as the campus liaison fielding requests and questions from international/domestic scholars.
  • Communicate to students, staff, and faculty about engaged, experiential and international programs through the ILR website and other platforms. Develop marketing campaigns to promote the international programs. Provide robust advising and support to students regarding study abroad and international opportunities.
  • Track student meetings in Salesforce and document referral and recommendations made to students.
  • Planning and coordinating of student events including but not limited to orientation for exchange students; leading or co-leading information sessions and panels, workshops, focus groups, feedback sessions and other student related events.
  • Assist in developing program budgets, monitoring expenses and reconciling accounts.
  • Maintaining and editing print & electronic marketing materials, including program website and University platforms.
  • Manage student recruitment; hire, train and oversee the student staff as well as the volunteer students for special events. Assist with onboarding and VISA process, as needed, and connect with appropriate partners across campus to ensure compliance and risk management.
  • Collaborating with a wide variety of constituents across SET, the ILR School, and across the university.

What we need:

  • Bachelor's degree and two to four years of relevant experience in program, project or event management, in an academic or professional setting or equivalent combination.
  • Relevant experience in student advising
  • Demonstrated success in working with faculty
  • Comfort level with both advanced & developing world cultures.
  • Must demonstrate ability to maintain and nurture international relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, manage, implement and monitor projects and events from conception to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage interactions and communication with students, faculty, business professionals, and colleagues across campus.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks on simultaneous projects, while working within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently while supporting the efforts of a team.
  • Demonstrated history of providing outstanding customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and independent judgment.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Ability to take initiative and be a proactive team member by recognizing or anticipating needs and addressing them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, monitoring and managing financial accounts and preparing reports on financial activities.
  • Expertise in Microsoft products including MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook (mastery level) skills.
  • Proficiency with the specialized applications including: Adobe Acrobat Pro, Qualtrics, Zoom, Box, Canvas, Drupal and Salesforce.
  • Occasional travel (domestic & international) may be required.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:

  • Five or more years of student support and/or program coordination experience, including program development and coordination.
  • International travel/work experience including knowledge of a foreign language.
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of visa requirements and processing logistics for international visitors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Kuali Financial Systems and working knowledge of Cornell's financial policies.
  • Prior experience with grant supported projects.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.

This is a full-time, non-academic staff, benefits eligible opportunity located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University.
