Emotions Matter, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization founded in 2015 with a mission to advocate for, educate, and support people impacted by borderline personality disorder (BPD). It has developed ground-breaking peer support groups and educational programs led by volunteers, which have helped thousands of people worldwide improve recovery attitudes and outcomes.
Emotions Matter seeks a new part-time Program Coordinator to provide leadership for our innovative peer support and wellness programs to support people with borderline personality disorder on the recovery journey. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen a hybrid volunteer and paid workforce to implement programs, strengthen existing programs and develop new programs, with an emphasis on program evaluation, strategic planning and leadership development.
JOB: Program Coordinator
TYPE: Part-Time (range of 20-25 hours weekly); Hybrid
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Provide support and oversight over programs of Emotions Matter, in addition to supervising volunteers and staff across programs with training and guidance.
● Oversee and manage new volunteer recruitment, performing intake, interviews and committee orientation, in partnership with Board Committee Chairs.
● Oversee program development and data management for each program, ensuring programs meet expected processes and outcome goals.
● Liaison with the Board and Committees Chairs related to program development.
● Work closely with the Executive Director to provide reports for program budget and grants, to ensure program sustainability and operational needs are met.
● Advise and oversee the delivery of direct support services through resources and referrals related to the BPD community, managing student interns and record keeping.
● Work with the Executive Director to ensure we are meeting standards for peer agencies, community and safety guidelines as per Emotions Matter’s policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Master’s level clinical degree required. A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the non-profit sector, social work or mental health fields.
● Self-starter and problem solver, with the ability to jump in and solve issues as they arise.
● Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude to lead staff and work with volunteers.
● Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively connect with diverse audiences impacted by borderline personality disorder.
● Competency with computers and technology platforms.
● Experience with MS Office, Google Suites, Excel, and Powerpoint.
● Highly collaborative, with a willingness and ability to be adaptable and flexible and to recognize when compromise is necessary for the betterment of the organization.
● Passionate about mental health issues and a desire to learn about the BPD community.
● Experience with group facilitation, program development and evaluation.
● Must have availability to supervise evening programs as needed via Zoom.
COMPENSATION
● Compensation range is $30-35/hour depending on level of prior experience.
● Generous PTO and holidays prorated based on hours worked.

● New York metro area preferred.
